K-State Fans Turn Dublin Purple for Aer Lingus Classic
DUBLIN, Ireland — The streets of Dublin are buzzing with excitement, painted in Wildcat purple as Kansas State prepares for its highly anticipated Week Zero showdown against Iowa State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.
For fans like K-State alum Brock Lucas, the international journey was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to show their loyalty. “It took some convincing, but we decided it’s probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Lucas said. “It’s pretty surreal to see so much purple here—it almost feels like home.”
Lucas and his friends are among the hundreds of Wildcat faithful who crossed the Atlantic to support their team. From navigating Irish roads to sampling local favorites (with a few pints of Guinness along the way), the group has fully embraced the adventure. “The locals have been amazing, the food is great, and the whole experience is unforgettable,” Lucas shared.
While nothing replaces the energy of game days in Manhattan, fans say cheering in Ireland adds something special. “We love being in Manhattan for the games, but it’s pretty cool to be here and be a part of this,” Lucas said.
As kickoff approaches at 11 a.m. Central time on Saturday, K-State fans in Dublin are united in one hope—that their Wildcats cap off this unforgettable trip with a victory.
