IU Hoosiers to Take on Baylor Bears at Gainbridge Fieldhouse
INDIANAPOLIS — The IU Hoosiers are set to face the Baylor Bears in an exhibition matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday, Oct. 26, in what’s being dubbed “The Indy Showdown.” This rare Division I exhibition is possible thanks to recent NCAA rule changes allowing teams to schedule games against each other before the regular season.
“Adding Baylor to our exhibition schedule was an important piece to our non-conference slate,” said Indiana head coach Darian DeVries. “Baylor is always a talented, well-coached team that will help prepare us for the season. We are excited to showcase this game in front of Hoosier Nation in Indianapolis.”
This contest marks the first of two appearances for IU at Gainbridge this season, with the Hoosiers also set to face Louisville on Saturday, Dec. 6, in a nationally televised matchup. DeVries, now in his first season at Indiana, will have a unique opportunity to test his squad against a national powerhouse early in the campaign.
Baylor, the 2021 national champion during the pandemic-impacted season, is equally enthusiastic about returning to Indianapolis. “Playing against an opponent like Indiana in its home state is a great chance for our team to experience what it will be like playing on the road in the Big 12,” said Baylor head coach Scott Drew. “We are grateful to bdG Sports for providing this unique opportunity to compete in an NBA arena against one of the nation’s most storied programs.”
Fans can expect a high-level showdown between two respected programs as both teams use the game to fine-tune their lineups ahead of the 2025-26 season.
